It was outright jealousy of all the fun Alasdair Fraser and his Skye Dance band were having that drove Sunday Oliver to put down the violin (and cello) and take up the fiddle.

"So far I haven't had to go to a 12-step group for being exposed to Wagner in the womb, but the experience traumatized me, and was to trouble me later in life," she says. But she overcame it. "The echoes of Tristan and Isolde began to fade from my inner ears, and gradually I came into my own musical truth. I discovered that I was better at noodling around than playing a tune straight. And in Jukolin I've found my match, because none of my bandmates can play a tune straight, either." She joined Juke in 1999 and its name was changed to Jukolin.
